EXCESSIVE SWEATING (HYPERHYDROSIS)

Hyperhidrosis or excessive sweating is a common condition that affects up to 3% of the population. The hot humid weather of Asia can make this condition both uncomfortable and embarrassing. Although hyperhidrosis can be a warning sign for thyroid problems, diabetes or infection, most cases occur in people who are otherwise healthy. Excessive sweating is also more common in people who are overweight or out of shape.

BOTULINUM TOXIN
Injections of Botox can temporarily stop the secretion of the chemical that is responsible for “turning on” the body’s sweat glands, by blocking or interrupting this chemical messenger, thus preventing excessive sweating. This procedure is FDA approved for the treatment of excessive underarm sweating.

You should consider this treatment if it bothers you socially or restricts what you wear especially black or coloured clothing. These injections last between 4-12 months with very minimal pain (ant bite).
